What is Literacy

I think that literacy is the process of understanding and interpreting a text of any genre. Usually if it is a text of any specific genre and you can understand the meaning or generalization of it, that is what makes you literate. If you can comprehend, and understand the point a text is trying to make, your literate, that's literacy.
